A break from the cutting edge
I’ve been on several projects lately, taking a break from the aforeposted shader development. The thing demanding the greater portion of my time is pursuing job leads. There has been scattered collection of semi-local positions discussed, as well as one on the west coast. All are yet still in the workings, and I am under consideration. Despite the lack of evident progress, it still feels better to be considered than ignored.
To keep up my skills, I have taken a break from C# development and returned to native c++ window development for a brief time.
I have decided to code Pinocle for Windows, using the good old cards.dll for primary art assets, leaving me to focus on the programming. I find myself flexing my Polymorphism muscles, using function pointers where previously I might have just hard coded several member functions. It’s nice when theoretically good practice turns out to solve several issues in practice as well. I picked up a copy of the famed book by Scott Meyers, Effective C++ (Third Edition). And therefore, my “const correctness” has greatly improved along with my Polymorphic skill.
On a side note, some friends are in pre-production for a film project for which I have agreed to be a Recording Engineer. Good fun there.
P.S. A screen shot of the forthcoming Pinocle game.
